For whatever reason, the two items are mixed and the reviews may not be as accurate with its rating. All my other Dewalt tools are brushless, and this was the first brushed tool I purchased. Although I can see how it might be “overworking” the brushed drill when I’m drilling holes, I still think the driver drill is one of those exceptions where it’s okay to purchase a cheaper model. It was a great deal, so I had to get my hands on the 2 batteries and a tool bag included.
