Great tool to have when you’re working on a cabin deep in the woods that doesn’t have power. Used the cutting wheel to remove stripped screws, what a life saver.

This is my second Dremel. My first one has lasted over ten years, and many many projects. I bought this new one for its versatility, no cords means km able to do other types of projects, without the limitations of being sick near a power outlet. My first project with this new one was a wind chime, as I was working with the materials many ideas of what project I SHOULD start next. This is indeed a great tool./ ;;;The only CON is the battery doesn’t always stay in.

If you only plan on buying one Dremel tool, the Dremel 7700 7.2V two-speed rotary tool is the one to buy. This is by far the most versatile and easy-to-use Dremel tool I have ever operated. It’s cordless and lightweight, which makes it easy to grab and take anywhere you need to go. But its battery is long lasting and powerful enough to get most small- to medium-sized jobs done without recharging.I have worked with Dremel tools for variety of projects, and I’m fairly well versed in many of their uses. But I decided to test drive the 7700 model for something I had never used a Dremel before – sharpening garden tools. I expected this job to take maybe half an hour at max, but I had two sets of bypass pruners, two sets of hand bypass cutters, and two sets of lopping shears sharpened in less than 10 minutes. Yes, there was a bit of a learning curve (I occasionally went off the edge – as you can tell by the before-and-after pictures), but within seconds these tools had a sharper edge on them than they had when they were purchased! The battery power held up very well for this job, too. There was no noticeable loss of power from the first tool until the last. Two things to note. If you do use this as a sharpening tool, you MUST wear eye protection – the sparks can be impressive. Also, I’m not a big fan of the garden tool sharpener. It was designed to hold the Dremel at the proper angle for an optimum edge. But it didn’t work well with the curved blades of the bypass pruners, so I just “eyeballed” the edge with a grinding wheel, which worked just fine.Unless you’re doing a lot of in-place, heavy duty grinding, sanding, or drilling (think carving rocks for jewelry), forget about buying a corded Dremel and go for the cordless 7700. You’ll be glad for its versatility (it comes with a nice set of accessories for lots of different jobs), durability and, most of all, ease of use.

I have owned a corded Dremel for 30 years. I have experienced the freedom of no cords with the Dremel 7700 and it has surpassed my expectations. Doing projects with the 7700 just seems easier.I have done some metal grinding and it has plenty of power in the high speed. Power sanding some paint off wood in a tight spot was easily accomplished. I loved using my corded Dremel before but now there is no project that I am not pulling out the 7700 and getting the job done easier and quicker.

This unit replaces a previous one from way back that just plain wore out. A good tool, priced well, many attachments available. Hope it lasts as long as the first one, eleven years.

It’s convenient for places you can’t get a power cord to. Used it to grind down the rivets on my chainsaw chain. Powerful.
