For reasons I don’t understand, it’s impossible to buy a SMALL water bottle for an adult. So I use toddler/kids’ ones. Luckily, this one’s design is sophisticated enough that no one has to know it was marketed to children. For years, I resisted reusable water bottles altogether, despite wanting to help the environment. I prefer my water ICE cold, so I always put my water bottles in the freezer, then let them thaw and drank the ice melt. Finally, after buying a different sort of bottle for bike-riding, I realized I liked the lack of waste, crossed my fingers and bought this one. Pluses: 1. It does keep water icy (if filled with ice) for up to six hours. Thus I have officially adopted this as my go-to receptacle for keeping by the computer while I work / carrying around the house doing chores. 2. As far as I recall, the rubber on the bottom does a decent job of preventing condensation rings. 3. Have I mentioned that the butterfly design is pretty? And soothing? And altogether pleasant to have nearby while working? Downsides: 1. $25 is rather a lot, especially if you were buying this for a younger child. (I would not, for instance, want this to be the bottle that my niece took with for school lunch.) 2. When you get to the bottom of the bottle, the water does have a weird, metallic taste. 3. Cleaning is fairly easy… but the hard plastic straw does seem a little sketchy. Is it clean? Who can tell?
