   After taking the unit out of the box… the plastic pieces felt a little flimsy. The instructions were few, but I did not expect much as it is a simple device. The unit stacks pretty high with multiple levels. When I first started it, it did not work. I had to run in two times before I figured out that it takes significantly more water than impressions. When I first filled the water inlet, it took very little water (and I thought it was very efficient) but it generated no steam. I turned it off,reset with water and tried again… no steam. The third time when I filled the water inlet, whatever was clogging the inlet finally let go. The unit then took a significant amount of water… (I thought it was taking so much water it my be leaking it out the back). After that, it steamed wonderfully! One downside is the multiple levels allow you to steam lots of food at once, but the flavor transfer from lower levels to upper levels means things have similar taste.

   Steamer itself was fine, nothing great, nothing bad. However, the buttons ONLY allow you to choose one of the preprogrammed options. I tried to cook rice in it (which normally takes an hour at my altitude), but the rice button only steams for 45 min. There is no longer option. Having a timer that I need to check on defeats the purpose.

    Definitely family size at 12 quarts. This steamer comes with three baskets plus a rice tray. I like the visible external water level reading. Decent stainless around the bottom of the heating unit. Since it is only the wife and I we most likely will not use all three trays but nice to have it available. The trays stack nicely inside each other thus not taking up additional storage beyond the size of one tray and the lid. The enclosed User’s Manual is printed in both English and Spanish. The “Steaming Chart” is extensive with times for cooking and desired beginning water levels. Rated at only 800 watts which is energy efficient. It was packaged very well. I highly recommend this steamer. One year warranty parts/labor on carry in basis.

    Steaming is the way to go to keep the favors and nutrients in the food you are preparing to eat. This steamer is one of the best I have ever used! And for its price, there is almost nothing better out there. I can cook my whole meal with this steamer, never once needing to use my range top, oven or microwave. I love fresh, crunchy steamed vegetables and my green beans, broccoli, and asparagus turn out just great! Rice in the rice bowl came out perfect and not anything like how I try to do my best with other methods. Whole potatoes are yummy too. My chicken and salmon and shrimp were tender and juicy. Haven’t tried the hard boiled eggs yet but I’m anxious to. And the fact that this is done by just one machine all at the same time makes this a very smart and efficient kitchen appliance. The instructions, digital display, and buttons make meal preparation a breeze. Easy clean up and compact storage means it will be used more often too.
