I opened the box, installed the Guard and Grinding Wheel and was ready to go sharpen some of my tools. Because this is the first time I have used an electric grinder, I choose to sharpen a garden shovel and pruning shears, shown in the attached photo’s. The grinder has a lot of power and did the job I had hoped for.I like the option of being able to attach the Tool Handle to either side of the grinder, although I don’t see me switching sides. The guard kept me safe from a possible shattering of the wheel and it also helped keep the sparks away from my body. The grinder is rated at 11,000 RPM’s so you want to make sure you use a grinding wheel that is made for those RPM’s. The wheel that comes with the grinder is a Type 27 36-grit INOX Depressed Center Grinding Wheel.that can be used on steel and stainless steel. The directions warn you when using a depressed center wheel to only use fiberglass-reinforced wheels.This grinder only weighs 5.9 lbs., which helps make it easy to operate and control. The instructions were easy to understand. The guard and abrasive wheel were easy to install. I am looking forward to using this grinder on other tools and projects. I do recommend the Makita 10.5 amp SJS Angle Grinder, Model # GA5020.

Easy to change out grinding wheel. The guard is easy to loosen and turn and tighten up again. The weight seems about the same as the one I had before. Nice strong motor to be able to put some pressure on the grinder to make it more aggressive at grinding and doesn’t slow down. Nice addition to my workshop. Only thing I wish it had was a case of some kind to keep everything together. Still worth having. Great tool.

This is a great grinder. It’s lightweight (only 5.9 pounds) and easy to handle. Out of the box it does not require much assembly. This 10.5 AMP grinder is perfect for small and medium tasks.The Ergonomic handles makes it so you do not get as fatigued while using it. The grinder does come with one grinder wheel. The 8 foot cord is also nice allowing you to have a little distance without using an extension cord.
