The Milwaukee M12 ROVER Compact Pivoting Flood Light with USB Charging gives users a flexible source of light made for any environment, in any orientation. The light provides 700 Lumens of TRUEVIEW High Definition Output, is capable of lighting up a workspace for up to 24-hours at a time with an M12 4.0 Ah Battery Pack, and features a light head that pivots 120° to orient light in multiple directions. The light comes equipped with a strong rear-facing magnet made for jobsite surfaces like steel studs, I-Beams, and job boxes, and the streamlined form factor of the light’s base gives users a handheld option for inspection lighting. Included with the light is a 2.1 Amp USB port for charging a phone or external device. For non-metallic surfaces, the light also includes an integrated keyhole for hanging capability. The compact pivoting flood light is IP54 rated for dust and water resistance, has an impact resistant lens protecting the LEDs, and can survive up to 9 ft. drops. ROVER flood lights are built to go anywhere and withstand anything.

This is a nice compact light. The “true-view” color rendition is one of the main reasons why I choose Milwaukee lights and this has that feature. I haven’t tested the USB charger but I understand it charges slowly. Still, it is a nice feature if you want to charge your phone. You cannot charge the Milwaukee battery with this feature. The articulating head works really well. I will no longer buy a light that doesn’t allow for adjustability. The magnet is very strong. The light is good for close up lighting such as working on the car. I was pleasantly surprised that it lit up the entire engine bay and stuck well to the hood. The construction is typical Milwaukee build quality so I expect it to last a long time. Battery run time is excellent but this depends on which battery you go with. I recommend the xc3 or higher as it is more stable when you want to stand the unit on the ground. I also tried with a 2 ah battery and it stood up fine without falling down. My only complaint and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the lumen output. 700 seems low considering other options out there. As a result, it is not great for lighting up rooms or expecting it to light up areas further away. But it is perfect for close up work like auto repair or working under the kitchen sink. I assume this was done for battery run time. Cost is fair considering Milwaukee items tend to be high. But you get what you pay for.
