   I bought this as a secondary scratching post for my cat because he was clawing at the walls in my apartment.It’s compact and can be placed in a small apartment easily. Product consists of rope twine wrapped around a post with a soft carpet base. Base is probably 18 inches wide. Post is probably 2.5 feet high.

   I keep 16 pounds of barbell on the base so my cat can use the post without tipping it or having it slide on the wood floor. With the added weight it’s a sturdy post that lets him get a good spine stretch and claw sharpening + the sisal is well wrapped and thick. It took him a few weeks to transition from his old post but now he really likes it. Six months along it shows minimal wear despite daily use. I suspect the board around the central bolt will be the weak point that dies first, but not yet!

   Just because my cat is completely disinterested is no reason for you not to try it. I spread the catnip all over to try to tempt him. He lapped up the catnip on the faux fur base, then stretched out — he loved the faux fur but had no interest in the scratching post. Th eproduct is well-made, sturdy, a good price, very easy to put together.

    I bought this for my male DSH cat, Spotty. He has used it quite a bit and I am impressed with the quality of it. The whole scratching post is sturdy and stable. It doesn’t wobble or move when Spot scratches on it and he is a fairly large (15-16 pounds) cat, and is very energetic when he plays and scratches. I like that I don’t have to be excessively worried that he will get hurt from it moving or tipping over. The post is taller than I expected it to be, which is a good thing, because Spot can stretch when he scratches it if he wants to. It is easy to assemble, and the necessary tools are provided. Also, the gray color is nice–it is a blue-gray color. Spotty and I definitely recommend this scratching post.

    Very attractive scratching post and easy to assemble. The product is very nice. However, my 16 lb older male cat does not use it as religiously as the previous post which was shorter and had a larger circumference. I do not know his thinking, but, he has tried it once or twice. I do not know if it is a stability issue or because the circumference is smaller. My younger smaller female cat has not used it. I will probably try some cat nip and see if that helps.
