We didn’t get a food processor because we simply don’t have space for more kitchen appliances, so this Salad Shooter is the right size for us, fits in a small shelf for storage.Cons: Not super powerful, and the pushing everything by hand gets tiring. Also the small carrot plunger is kind of clunky to operate because the larger plunger it fits into keeps moving up and you have to push both plungers simultaneously, which makes things more complicated and stresses your hand and fingers.

As a cheese slicer and potato slicer it works great. Also works great for shedding cheese. One thing to know is this does not dice onions. It pulverates them. I guess I should have known it was advertised as a slicer and shredder. I do not know why Presto could not make an attachment for dicing onions. I was a little disappointed that the main compartment is smaller than I thought it would be. Seems to be well designed and manufactured using solid materials that will last.

I have the regular Presto Salad Shooter and I bought this unit hoping it would be able to slice larger diameter veggies such as squash without slicing the veggie lengthwise. The slicer that came with it was a thick slicer and wanted thinner slices so I ordered the thin slice cone from presto. I haven’t tried the shredder attachments yet. So far, compared to the original Salad Shooter, I found it could slice larger items but the thin slices were not as precise as those produced by the original Salad Shooter, which is important to me. The slicer also produced more slicing debris which accumulated in the feed shoot and required more frequent cleaning during use. I also found the black nozzle often would clog and sliced food back up so I removed it and just tilted the machine (it’s light) as I did with the Original model, aiming it into a bowl or bag. I do like that the output has a bigger lip so it was easier to hold a bag in place while shredding. Once I’ve tried the other cones, I will add to the review…
