Best value in a small wood turning chuck. Jaws from other manufacturers do fit, but the Wen chucks us a M5.0 – 0.8 thread to attach the jaws. Nova uses a M6.0-1.0 thread to attach the jaws. Also the Wen jaws are thicker and you will need shorter screws to attach other brand’s jaws.

Not very well made but it does work how to put it together unfortunately has no numbers to show where the teeth of the and chuck goI’m going to keep it though I will try to upgrade it thank you

Giving this only a good rating as this is the first self-centering chuck I’ve used. It appears to do the job as intended and had no problems during usage.

The WEN LA4374 Chuck works well on my WEN 3424T lathe. I also use this chuck as the base for a WEN LA432F *” Flat Jaw Set. Very happy with the quality. Also, WEN Product Support was extremely helpful when I needed some new screws that hold the jaws to the chuck. Great product support!

I do a lot of wood lathe turning and this chuck performs great . I have not had any problems at all. It is made strong with an excellent grip factor. A great value and recommend for any wood turner to use.

This Self-Centering 3.75 inch chuck set is a very nice addition for the price.The quality is equal with those costing much more yet, this set comes with everything you would need to install it on your lathe.I have a Shopsmith, and as a result I had to order an adapter to fit this to my Shopsmith. The adapter cost me $25 and screws into the end threads of the chuck…So with that, I’m able to use this chuck.Using this chuck is very nice. The jaws move in or out very smoothly, and comes with all the tools necessary to make any adjustment.I’m looking forward to many projects down the road using this chuck.Very pleased and highly recommended.

It fits my lathe and allows me to add another Chuck to my tool list. I have used it to TURN several bowls already and would like to have been able to find a set of PEN JAWS for Pen Turning work. I understand that there might possibly be more options for various additional JAW Sets in their future.From what I have seen from WEN Products to date, it appears that they will give the other manufacturers a hard run for their money with the tools and machines they are currently offering and building. This is the same chuck I pay $275 a year ago. This chuck is worth the money.

The Wen 3.75 inch 4-Jaw Self Centering Chuck is a great addition to a variety of woodworking lathes that use the 1 inch x 8 TPI mount. I tested the chuck with the Wen 3420 8 inch x 12 inch woodworking lathe. The chuck action had a little bit of roughness/hesitation as it opened and closed but it gripped the wood well. The chuck is opened and closed with a square key that is included. It also includes a M4 Hex Wrench for tightening hex screws on the chuck. In addition there is a bolt you can screw into your piece of wood and clamp the chuck down on the end of the bolt instead of directly on your work piece. Internal grip range is 1-3/4 inch to 3-1/8 inch.External grip range is 1-1/4 inch to 2-1/2 inch.Out of the box, the chuck had two loose Phillips screws on the back and three loose M4 hex screws loose on the front. Easily resolved but surprising to find out of the box because it implies they were not tightened properly at the factory.

Evenly balanced, and easy to use

I’ve used this product for a few projects now and it performs well. I also have 2 Nova Midi chucks. The WEN chuck works just as well as the Nova chucks. The nice part of the WEN chuck is that it uses the chuck key to operate the jaws where the Nova chucks I have use to bars. Both systems work well, but the WEN is easier for one-handed tightening/loosening. The dovetail of the jaws, both internal & external seems to match the Nova dovetail. I have a Nova dovetail chisel that I used to create the recess of my work pieces for both brands. I seems the Nova chuck jaw accessories should fit the WEN, but I have not tested this yet. I plan to in the future since WEN does not seem to have the accessory line like the Nova brand. I’ve also been using the wood screw a lot. It is just a little longer than the Nova, but the same diameter. All-in-all I am very happy with all the WEN products I have.

This is the first 4-jaw chuck I’ve had for use with my Shop Smith 10ER lathe setup. To fit the chuck on the Shop Smith I had to buy a spindle adapter from a woodworking supply store.My chuck came with no instructions and no documentation. Granted, using the chuck is fairly intuitive, but some periodic is maintenance is necessary. I found a nice two-page instruction manual, some general chuck cleaning tips, and instructions for chuck disassembly with spare parts on the WEN website, wenproducts.com.The product photos don’t show a spindle-end view of the chuck, but the chuck has a closed back. The chuck uses a square pinion for adjusting the position of the jaws, which I think is a little unusual. There are two pinion locations, spaced 180° apart. I don’t think WEN has accessory jaws for this lathe, so the included jaws are it. Also, there’s no spindle lock screw, so you can’t run the lathe in reverse with this chuck.I’ve been using the lathe for about a month. I think it’s great. I could get a more precisely machined chuck for 2 or 3 times the price of this one, but I don’t think I need increased precision for the type of turning that I’m doing.I haven’t used the screw chuck other than to insert it in the jaws to verify that it spins on center.The chuck was made in China.

This is a self-centering chuck which my husband uses with his Jet lathe. His previous chuck was larger and was not suitable for smaller diameter size projects. This chuck is better suited for projects which are smaller in diameter.This chuck is well-made and sturdy. The self-centering feature is especially useful and saves time. The chuck comes with all the tools needed to mount wood and, adjust it and to rotate the jaws to hold the wood from the inside or the outside.

Got it quickly, store pickup was easy & fast. I really like the chuck looks well made but I don’t have my lathe setup yet so that’s about all I can tell you now.
