   4 Stars because I have not had long term use and just basing it on first impressions. I purchased this recip saw and so far so good. It is powerful enough for my needs and it coming with a 9ah 60v battery pushed me over the edge to grab it. I would of liked to of seen a couple of the features added for this newest version that other brands offer like the orbital, adjustable shoe, and rafter hanger, but for whatever reason they were not added by Dewalt. Those features are found on other recip saws like Milwaukee Super Sawzall and the Rigid Octane, but those were not deal breakers for me, and as was mentioned for my needs this recip will fit in just fine with my other tools on this platform and it will get the job done for me. Pros: 9ah battery. More power than previous versionCons: No orbital, adjustable shoe, and rafter hook. I also find the charger to be a slight downgrade compared to the 8 amp fan cooled that came with the previous versions and mentioned that in my DCS 578X1 review as well. Overall if you are already on the Dewalt platform and your recip saw needs to be replaced this one seems to be a solid kit for 299.

   I finally decided to upgrade to this Reciprocating Saw when I was removing the roots to a very large tree in my back yard. because of the location between my deck house and driveway and limited space to tug on roots with a vehicle there was no choice but to do by hand. It was really tough went through a few blades but this tool made the difference, and made it possible to get the job done as a DIYer. Glad to have a second flex volt battery in my tool bag too.
