I have another planer that I use normally and bought this one because I wanted the finer blades to use more as a finish planer. I tested it and it runs very smooth and is of highest quality machining. The only gripe is no direct connection for the vacuum nozzle which is something that should just be with the unit. So either you have to be creative or order one. Come on Makita, great products but include the piece.

I suppose this works as intended, but if you plan to use it to plane large, flat surfaces, I would look elsewhere. It works well for shaving small edges but this will not give you a big flat surface. I found a couple uses for it, so I won’t return it, but it was not what I was looking to buy.
