These tools do the job, reliably. I have used mine to drill 3500 1/4 inch holes in HARD concrete with NO problems. Batteries lasted a LOT longer than expected. My 4 inch hole saw boggs it down a bit but then again that is a lot of work. The lighted trigger is very useful in low light.

I bought this kit to replace my tired dewalt drill. The hammer drill and impact driver are very powerful. They both feel solid and look to be high quality. I used this kit to build a 16′ x 16′ deck last weekend and the tools worked like a dream. Everyone should have this combo set. Better than my dewalt ever was!

Best combo pack on the market for still having brushes. Tried the others, but grip and control are the best. The extra $100 for the bigger batteries goes the distance. I have the Rigid brand also. Tried the Dewalt and Makita. Milwaukee has better trigger control with the impact driver. Haven’t use the drill much. But loaned to a friend and he doesn’t want to give it back, because his Dewalt went down. Price is a little high. Could be $50 cheaper. Good thing I get my veteran discount.

My newest review is for the fantastic Milwaukee M18 series Cordless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit.Let’s start with the tote bag. This quality tote bag is strong, waterproof, and bulit to last. The zipper is rugged and strong. Upon opening the zipper, I find the tools. There is plenty of room in the bag for both tools, both batteries, and the charger. I also imagine carrying a drill bit kit and a driver bit kit, as well as some extra add-on’s that Milwaukee makes, such as an arbor and extra bits. Plenty of room to fit all you need. The Hammer Drill: This drill looks like the other standard drill that Milwaukee makes, however, this one has the Hammer function. When engaged, the drill will “HAMMER” the bit as you drive it into you material, whether it be stone, drywall, wood, or steel. The “BANG-BANG-BANG” sound and force behind the drill reallly gets the job done. I used this setting to drill out a hole in my stainless steel sink. There is a built in light for working in tight spaces or darkness. The battery securely “clicks” into place and lasts a long time. The M18 series batteries are interchangeable with the other 40 M18 products too!. GREAT Weight and feel. This drill is balanced and true. The Impact Drill: This Impact Drill is great for tight spaces. Also good if you are using a lot of “Torque” to get the job done. For instance: Say you are installing a new shed kit for your backyard. The framing for that shed is mostly Aluminum rails and a giant bag of screws or bolts. This impact drill is the perfect tool for that. As you pull the trigger and drive the screw, the drill increases the torque needed to force the screw into the material. Increased torque means less stripping and also means you get the screw driven without accidentally breaking it off or not completing the full depth of the screw. GREAT FOR HIGH TORQUE PROJECTS!The Batteries: This kit comes with 2 M18 Lithium-Ion Batteries. They are quick charging and give up to 3 hours of continuous power.Overall, I am incredibly happy with this combo kit. I can’t think of ANY jobs that this kit won’t do.

I had an old Ridgid X2 Hammerdrill. It had worked excellent for about 8 years since I bought it. I opted for it because of the Lifetime Warranty. I completed all the information, registered, sent the paperwork in. Fast forward to now and I have a problem with it. I contact Ridgid and they tell me that I never registered it. 8 years later I have nothing of proof other than the tool. Now it does not work and I need new tools.I have 2 local Home Depots that are about 5 minles away. I go to the first, talk to one of the reps and he is hocking the Ridgid. I explained my problem with the previous one and he said that never happens. Once he said everything else was junk compared to Ridgid, I knew he didn’t know what he was talkign about. I head to the other Home Depot after stopping at Lowes to look at the Porter Cable and Bosch. I didn’t quite like either of them. I was talking with the sales rep at and he took me over to a stand. It had one of each of their drivers, fully powered, with different screws and lag bolts to try out on a 6×6. He spent the time going over each. Told m he would not buy the Ridgid either because the Lifetime Warranty was useless. The local repair places take 4-6 months to fix, never fix them right, and then offer for you to send it to Ridgid yourself for about $70 in shipping costs there and back. The Dewalt was nice, but never fan. The Ridgid was way over stated on power. Makita and Milwaukee wound up being the best. The problem with the Makita is that the batteries were recalled. You could buy it, but they have to send the batteries in for replacements because they do not have the recall replacements in store. We go look at the M18 combos. There is the $199 and $299 versions. I am a home DIYer so I did not need the Fuel for $399. For the two XC batters versus the 1.5AH batteries, it was worth the $299 version. He handed me the box, scanned it, and said it must be on sale. It is showing $199. The kicker was that you get a third battery or an LED light free ($99 value). I do not need a 3rd battery so I took the LED light because it may have more practical uses. He comes with me to the register, it rings up $299 (like it should). He scans it with his tool and it shows $199. They agree and charge me $199 for it. Not a bad deal at all. $398 for $199 is a 50% discount for me. If the Ridgid lasted 8 years, this set should easily get 10 years.

Great combo pack! Drill works great, love the keyless chuck. Charger is built solid and can charge both 12 and 18 volt batteries, only one at a time though. It will immediately start charging the other battery though once the first is done, so it’s workable. The charger doesn’t like to play nice with hanging it on a wall, the screw catchers in back aren’t deep enough or long enough to make hanging it very stable. You can get it to work with a dremel tool, but i’m a little amazed that milwaukee didn’t use their “disruptive innovation” on this aspect of things. Carry bag is of good quality and looks and feels like it can take some abuse with out issue. The highlight of this kit for me is the hex driver. This thing is a work of art. Powerful, ergonomic, fast bit change, long battery life, and built like a tank! Wasn’t sure I needed one before I got my hands on it, but now it’s funny to think about grabbing the big drill for tightening or loosening a couple of screws. A hex driver really is one of those tools that come along and make you wonder how something this revolutionary took so long to be created. Loving these tools! I’ve become a believer in red now. Milwaukee, you have one me over!

Just bought the kit this week from the local store. First impressions indicate both tools are well built, compact, and balanced. The batteries charged from nothing to 100% in less than an hour. I used the impact driver to remove and rotate 4 tires, which used only 1/4 of the battery capacity. The impact driver barely had enough torque to remove the wheels, so if you plan to do this frequently you should buy a model with more torque. The hammer drill works great for drilling holes in wood, I haven’t tested the hammer function yet.

These are my first Li-ion drills, replacing old NiMH. Can’t say I’m crazy about the fade-free charging (battery dies without warning), but they certainly do last a lot longer. This is all normal. What’s not normal – on a couple of occasions, after charging one of the batteries to a full green, neither drill will would work with it (pull the trigger and dead). Tried the other battery and both drills worked fine. I stuck the bad battery back on the charger for about three seconds, just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy and confirm it was a full charge, put it back on the drill and it was fine. What!?!?? This has happened a couple times now.I’ve had the set for shy of a year.
