   Milwaukee Cordless Searchlight Kit. The kit includes everything you need: Searchlight, battery, charger and strap. I purchased a small bag to carry all the items in.First, this is Heavy Duty as most all Milwaukee products are. So it will be a bit heavier than some standard flashlights. But it is built to last, and serve. The shape lets you place the searchlight in many places and positions, and it will not roll away on you like some other round flashlights. The carry handle is comfortable and grips well.The head is adjustable up to 180 degrees so you can point it in many directions. If you set it on its side, the head will swivel sideways.The light output is supreme. Clearly this searchlight is primarily for lighting distant objects or pathways; and it has push-button setting control to allow for spot, spot and flood, flood, and strobe settings.The battery and charger are part of the Milwaukee M18 Lithium-Ion series so will work with all your other Milwaukee tools, chargers, and batteries.If you own a Milwaukee tool system/kit, then this is a welcome addition. If you are just starting out in the cordless tool world, then this is a great place to start. While they have a tool-only searchlight, I highly recommend this kit for the added accessories; its a better value.No more scrambling for batteries for your dead flashlight. Get this kit.

   This light is awesome and is now living in my truck as a permanent fixture. It is dark when I drive to work as well as the drive home and I am always in need of a good light for emergencies or the odd task that I inevitably get called on to do during the week. The ability of the lamp portion to rotate so you have the beam facing where you want it without having to hold the lamp at an odd angle is great. You can also stand this light on the battery pack or lay it flat and then aim the beam where needed and leave your hands free to work. This light feels tough, not like a cheap piece of plastic you have to worry about breaking. I don’t want to test it but I bet it could sustain a good fall and come out all right. The only thing I need now is an in-truck charger so I don’t have to take the battery inside on the weekend and possibly forget it. Thankfully Milwaukee has me covered there too and with Christmas around the corner I may get one for myself.

   This is the best cordless light that I have ever owned. I charged the battery and went to my back yard and I could see my neighbors shed from 300 yards away very clearly but it will go 700 yards if needed. The light has four modes either wide with no beam,wide with direct beam,strobe or just a straight beam. The light has a shoulder strap so it can be carried and the head swivels up and down. The battery has a meter so you can see how much life is left before it needs to be recharged. The kit comes with the light a M15 5.0 ah Lithium Ion battery which will last a good amount of time depending on the mode you select.. The light weighs a little less than five pounds so that’s the reason for the shoulder strap.

   In this corner we have the Milwaukee Heavy duty searchlight without the battery weighing in at 3.16 lbs.In the other corner we have just the battery weighing in at 1.6 lbs. A total of 4.66 lbs. This is one heavy flashlight.Probably not an issue on the jobsite. In fact you will welcome the extra thick housing in 5 years after it has been knocked around. How many flashlights come with a 5 year warranty! A super bright light. I love the flood setting when working outside or even under the sink. It’s bright enough you can shine it on a wall and use the reflected light. Bright enough to light up an entire room in the house. The flood LEDS have a nice white light that gives true colors. The spot is a yellower light. The spotlight was visible and usable over 100 yards away. Probably could hit 150 yards easy but couldn’t find a location further that that in my neighborhood. Includes a keyhole on the handle for hanging on a wall. This is the most expensive flashlight I have reviewed (sans batteries) but I think it is worth it if a search light / work light is required for your job. Be sure to read the specs on the battery construction. These cordless tools are only as good as the batteries.

   Decent search light with a few caveats. Out of the box it is a quality item in the hand. Instructions are clear and concise on operation and use. Included battery charger is both a dual M12 and M18 functional charger. Included battery does require charging before first use. Now to the cons and really is mostly a few picky one. With a high capacity battery, it is a little on the heavy side in the hand. Second con is the adjust beam head is not all the stiff and easily comes out of adjust in use.

I’ve used the cordless light for a car repair during the evening darkness, light fixture replacement, outlet install.     It will change forever the definition of exterior emergency or utility lighting. The sharply focused search light beam is extraordinarily intense. I cannot imagine the impact it can have on rescue operations. It is that good.I tested it with a 9.0 AH M-18 battery and with the concentrated search beam and wide angle beam on at the same time, the run time was a full 7 hours and 28 minutes non-stop. That is astonishing. Put this light and battery together, and they are beyond valuable. It many instances, you cannot put a price on what it can do.The weight with this battery is moderately heavy, but very well balanced. When standing on end on the battery, it is stable beyond compare. The head adjusts very nicely which is great both hand held and especially free standing.

    I’ve been very impressed by the usability of this light – it can be tilted a little over 180 degrees (if standing on the battery, it can actually tilt down slightly), has a shoulder strap that is surprisingly well balanced for hands off use while carrying with even the largest of M18 batteries, and can easily stand on the battery to put the light about a foot off the ground. There are 3 settings, what I’ll call ‘narrow’, ‘wide’, and ‘both’. I had mine on the wide setting with an M18 XC 4.0 battery that I thought was fully charged, and it lasted for a little over 20 minutes. Because of its versatility, this has become my most used light.

    This is an excellent search light, and yes, it can be used as a work light too, thanks to its swiveling head. It has three main modes, along with a strobe mode. I’ll just detail three steady-state modes and their battery life:(1) Wide beam (rated 4 hours) – a very wide light great for getting electrical or construction work done, generated through four bright-white LEDs mounted in the corners of the light face.(2) Spot beam (rated 7 hours) – a very narrow, yellow-light beam emitted from a single center-mounted LED, with a wider radius of diffuse light generated by the reflector. Rated at 700 yards, I found it could brightly paint the tops of trees about 300-400 feet away. At 700 yards it would be pretty diffuse.(3) Wide + spot beam (rated 4 hours) – a combo of the two, but with reduced output from the four white LEDs to save on battery life (hence, the equal run time to the wide-only beam).In my tests of the wide beam mode, the battery life did indeed work out as advertised – I used it for an hour straight and the battery gauge dropped down to 3 out of 4 “bars”, so four hours total life seems like a reasonable approximation. It seriously lights up the work area, and while I typically do electrical work with a headlamp, it was rendered completely unnecessary by this light.Here’s the main problem when assessing the kit: value. Over half the cost comes in the form of the M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Starter Kit that retails for $149 and is included with this search light. That’s great from the point of view of starting a collection of Milwaukee M18 series tools, but it makes clear that this search light on its own isn’t worth anywhere close to the asking price. In fact, the Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Search Light (Tool-Only) sells for $99 on Home Depot, which is a bit high, frankly. Buying the kit saves $20 over buying them separately, but unfortunately, I still don’t think investing in the expensive M18 battery tech makes sense for one simple device.Bottom line: this search light is pretty basic from the point of view of functionality. So, my advice to potential purchasers would be only to buy it if you’re also going to get other Milwaukee M18 gear, like saws or drivers. It’s a great multi-purpose light, however, and a nice add-on to a Milwaukee M18 collection.
