Good power and balance. Variable speeds work well and dust collecting is good. A little heavy but still manageable. Looks like it will hold up well as do most of the Ridgid tools

I’ll preface this by saying this is my first time owning or using a power sander, and I’ve only had this one a few days. But so far it seems pretty great. It’s not overly heavy, it’s easy to hold and use the controls with gloves on, and connecting it to my shop vac couldn’t have been easier. And when connected to a shop vac, the dust collection works incredibly well. It’s also worth noting the case it comes with, unlike most included cases that are 1 millimeter bigger than the tool and nearly impossible to get it back in, easily holds the tool & many extra sandpaper discs. My only complaint is that the built in power cord is only about 5ft long. Nothing an extension cord can’t easily fix, but I’d prefer a little more length to work with before I’m pulling on the plug / extension connection.

This works really good it doesn’t just start it ramps up which is nice gives you a chance to hold and start sanding slowly.

Not as fast as the older one but I like it. Low vibration great fit collection when used with a ridgid vac. I think for the lower side of price you could do a lot worse of a tool.

I recently bought this sander. I have actually burnt up 3 orbital disc sanders in the past 2 years. I needed yet another one and I found Rigid’s Orbital Sander. The hook & loop (disk pad) is far better constructed than the disk pads of the 3 previous sanders. The hooks are smaller (more of them) and they grab the sanding disks much more securely. Larger hooks tend to wear out faster. The variable speed adjustment is “tucked” away which prevents ones hand from accidentally hitting it and causing a speed change. The on-off button is also “tucked” away and it doubles as an “always” on switch without the need of a separate locking button (less parts to fail). Finally, the best feature is that the dust collection “vacuum” design actually vacuums the dust from your work area. You can even raise the sander about .25 inches from your work surface and the sander will vacuum the dust up and into the dust bag. The dust collector outlet also permits one to connect an active vacuum system to the sander.I highly recommend this sander!!!!!!

Operates as expected. Good dust collection. Slightly heavier than some other sanders. Would give it a 5 star review but mine came out of the box used…still had sanding dust in it. Home Depot should be more careful with customer returned items

Excellent sander so far! There are however a couple of issues: (1) the hook and loop loses its grip as one changes disks repeatedly from coarse to fine; (2) the confirmation of the life time warranty is still pending (I don’t know why as I have registered and sent required information within a couple of weeks).

I love my orbital sander because of the ability to plug a shop back up in place of the dust collecting bag. Keeps my workshop clean and air safe. This product is very easy to register and backed by Rigid’s Lifetime Service Guarantee. Anything goes wrong and they will fix it for life.

Overall, great sander. I’ve used it several times with extensive usage each time. Great dust collection, like the soft start (took a little to get used to it), comfortable to use, great results. HOWEVER….And Ridgid, are you listening? The sanding pad backer micro-hooks are too small. Mine wouldn’t hold a sanding disk any longer. Removed it, washed it off, dried it, reinstalled it but it still threw disks off. It NEEDS MORE AGGRESSIVE velcro hooks, like the Dewalt. Never had this problem with a my Dewalt – but bought this one since the dust collection on the Dewalt sucks. Was in the middle of a project and needed to replace the backer pad. Home Depot doesn’t stock them – but do carry replacement pads for Dewalt (which don’t fit – spacing of the mounting screws is different). Go figure. Wait time to get them to repair it was 6 – 8 weeks due to backlog of other tools they had to repair. Ridgid, those micro-hooks simply don’t cut it and you need to replace that with a more aggressive hook that won’t throw disks after about 30 hours of use. Great tool but the lower rating is due to this problem which is easily fixed.

It was very easy to use. It takes a number of different sand grades. Plus it comes with a sturdy case.
