I bought this Ridgid R70011 drill at home depot today after my Black & Decker keyed chuckcorded 3/8 drill gave up the ghost yesterday after only sixty years (!!)I wondered about the keyless chuck and stood there for ten minutes pondering andfinally decided to give it a try.I read some reviews tonight which complained about drill bits slipping with this keyless chuckso I gave it my toughest test tonight, drilling a small pilot hole through a piece of steel strap,then taking a larger drill bit to enlarge the hole.This procedure used to cause a keyed chuck to ‘catch’ and slip, but the R70011 keylesspassed the test with no problem.I assume the guys who complained about the slipping are aware of the ‘ratcheting’ feature built into the R70011 keyless chuck ??This drills’ a keeper, five stars.
