WEN 5 Amp Corded Variable Speed Portable Oscillating Spindle Sander

This is a good table top spindle sander. It’s the right size for craft and smaller jobs. It clamps down with the provided pieces. Good unit.

Well made tool. Word as I exspected

I live in a resort which has a nice woodshop for the residents, and they have a large cabinet model spindle sander with a 1.5” stroke. This portable unit only has a ¼” stroke, but one would not expect this to have the same capacity of the cabinet model, but more stoke would be better. A longer stoke would help utilize more of the sanding drum, and reduce chance of burning the wood. I’ve only used this for a short time, but haven’t had an issue with burning wood. The sanding drums are easy to flip end for end. It’s a little on the heavy side, but I think this is an advantage to keep it from chattering. Actually, I was surprised at the features this unit has. The edge guide is handy feature to prevent the drum from digging into wood. The other feature is a set of clamps to mount the unit upside down on your work bench. I have a 3” thick top on my work bench, and this easily attaches to that. One of the attaching brackets was over bent, and had to be straightened before use. The additional accessories mean you want to store the tool in a box with all its miscellaneous hardware.

Practically a 5 Star for the price. This thing does a more than adequate job sanding curves. It’s still new to me so I don’t know how it’ll hold up but for the price I’ve been quite impressed.

The sander was very easy to mount and use on my workbench. Doesn’t take up much room like a full-size one would.

I was working on a project making some Adirondack chairs. Used it to sand the edges and it worked great. Very compact but surprisingly powerful. The clamps to mount to a table are very simple but also worked great. They held it very securely in place. For the price, I feel it’s a great deal. Make sure you get extra sand paper tubes. I did go through a number of those and glad I ordered additional ones.

Almost immediately became one of the most useful tools in my small garage woodshop.

works well and can be clamped to bench

This tool is doing what I needed it to do. The clamp set-up works well on my work bench. The variable speed setting is easy to control and gets you to the right speed. I have used it more jobs than I had intended. It might be good to have some bigger size drums and maybe some finer sanding sleeves.

Met my needs ……works well

The sander is very solid. spindle is perfectly straight. comes with great accessories and will clamp to your bench to make into a bench top spindle sander. I have bought several wen products and I have never been disappointed! There is another one of these with a Triton name on it. it’s exactly the same thing but over 2x more expensive.

Looked at them all went with WEN because my dad had some of there tools and I used his tools. I wish the knot that hold the drum was a little shorter .I was making jam jars holder with 2 5/8 ” hole and the distance with two boards hole line up hit the bottom board on the down stroke on 3/4 ” stock.

The WEN variable speed handheld oscillating spindle sander has a 5 Amp motor which should handle all of you needs. The spindle oscillates between 50 to 90 times per minute, with adjustable speed that can be set anywhere from 1800 to 3200 RPM. The kit includes these sanding sleeves (1/2 in., 3/4 in., 1 in., and 1-1/2 in.) and 3 rubber drums (3/4 in., 1 in., and 1-1/2 in. It includes two clamps to mount on any sturdy surface. A little rigging and dust collection is a breeze. Wish I’d had this many years ago, it is so handy! I had looked at a different brand and at three times the price I could not justify it. The first job it received was to “adjust” a couple tenons that were cut too long.

Preform excellently for what I purchased it for , sanding the under-mount sink cut out for butcher block counter tops.

More than I expected

The web sander works wonderful. I could not have asked for a better sander and at suck a great price. Thumbs up to Home depot.

Easy to use

I gave as a birthday gift. The recipient loves it and says I may borrow it. The product is awesome but the home delivery was definitely NOT.

I would have given 5 stars, however the extra sleeves for just this unit doesn’t exist. I purchased along with this, the sanding sleeves for the Internet #207165313 Model # 6510SPC which are 4.5 inches, which I will need to cut down to fit, also was disappointed that it didn’t have a 2 inch sanding drum. So I purchased a 2 X 4.5 inch directly from WEN, and I will cut it down to fit the unit, and will also modify the unit to accept the 2 inch drum and sleeve. As long as this unit hold up, I believe this is a really good deal for anyone shop with limited space, that a bench top or floor unit would take up too much room. I have used it a couple of time, and like other reviews, 1~3 speed is more than enough..

Nice sander at a good price. Can be used hand held or clamped to a table. I did have one minor issue with the 1 1/2′ drum not fitting properly over the spindle but Wen customer service resolved it very quickly for me. I am pleased.
