   I tried this sander at a friends place, for I only had orbital and 1/3 sheet sanders. This sander is the one for me! It is a heafty unit and gets the job done with ease. I make tables, etc. from maple slab cuts which has very rough saw marks and this does the job with no trouble at all. I would recomend this sander to anyone.

   I used this product for the first time to level a 6′ x 3′ table top made of purple heart. The sander has plenty of power to get the job done. At 14 lbs. , it is somewhat heavy so extended use will eventually be felt by your back, but the weight also helps get the job done quickly. I saw other reviews that were a few years old that said the dust collection wasn’t sufficient. I found just the opposite. I was surprised at how much dust was collected. I typically sand outside my workshop to help keep the inside clean, but I found I could use this sander inside the shop because the dust collection was so efficient. I gave this five stars for value, but I have to say didn’t comparison shop for price. I have other Makita tools that I like and after reading the reviews on this, I decided to purchase. Based on the performance, I would buy this product again without comparison shopping because I can’t imagine there is a better sander for the price. I expect to have this sander a long time.

   This belt sander is a Beast! However, it’s quieter than other sanders, has a flawless dust collection and lighter than the others in this price range. Easily user friendly though it removes material rather quickly so keep it moving without any downward pressure and it’s a dream.

   This sander is for removing material fast and it does an amazing job at it. I used to try to level glued wood panels with just a random orbit sander and would spend forever trying to even out the surface. This belt sander does the job at a fraction of the time and creates a more level surface too. Now I just finish up with the random orbit and than some finish sanding. Much more efficient.

   As with most Makita corded power tools, this is a good heavy duty machinethat will probably last the rest of your life ( add it to your will). With the rightsanding belt it is able to remove an extraordinary amount of material. If yourprevious experience is only with vibrating sanders, be certain to practiceon some scrap before you attack the solid cherry table top you made.At 14 Lbs. its no lightweight and needs a strong hand to control it.The dust collector works quite well and the bag gets most of the messbut there is still a lot that escapes. Don’t try to use it in any place youdon’t plan on giving a through cleaning afterwards.
