Recently purchased this sander. Had what appears to be an identical Makita which I used for many years. Finally wore it out and replaced it with this unit. I loved my original Makita Orbital Sander. This new unit operates beautifully. I’m sure I’ll get many years of excellent use out of it. The features I like about this model are: the variable speed (can tone it down for more delicate sanding) and the palm sanding design. The models with the front and rear handles are fine for flat work, but to get into corners in cabinets, drawers and confined spaces the palm design works best. it sands so nicely you don’t need the handles.

I did not know this, but I have found out it is much better to drop the speed on the finish sanding work. Very easy to do. I made 2 picture frames 21 x 21 and their appearance is much better… The Hook and Lock system is very easy to deal with.
