   I bought this sander a week and half ago to sand down cumura wood decking after burning out a Rigid sander that I thought would last for this specific project (my mistake) and didn’t see the need to spend the extra money for the Makita 9403 for a single project. Anyway, the sander works great with a 50 grit belt but as others have pointed out, the dust bag is a BIG disappointment as it has a poor fit and blows up into your face requiring me to put on a set of goggles. Have multiple other Porter Cable products (sanders, nail guns, router, etc.) and have always been satisfied with the workmanship. Not sure why they did such a poor job on the dust bag when it is such an important part of the seamless use of a belt sander which throws off so much dust.

   The only issue I have is it should come with optional handle so you could stand up. The product works great and I’d give it 5 stars of it had a handle. My knees and legs still ache after 4 days.

    Have a Black and Decker 24” sander circa 1955 that gave up the ghost in the middle of a project. I will hunt around to try and find brushes for it and see if that resolves the issue. In the meantime I ran down to Home Depot and grabbed this one to finish. Works just as well. Very satisfied.

    the sander itself is built very well but whoever engineered this is an idiot! the dust collector doesn’t even work correctly it blows dust in your face the entire time you’re using it! the dust bag doesn’t even seal all the way around the clamp so dust just comes pouring out of the hole in the bag which in terms blows it in your face!

    I purchased this belt sander based on reviews and the brand. As I have only owned it for a short time I can’t talk about it’s longevity however it has held up to the stripping of a solid stain on my deck. I would recommend a rubber cleaner though on the sanding belt to increase its life as I did.

    A really solid performer. I’m using it for refinishing a deck, and it has the endurance that the cordless Sanders just don’t have. The dust collector, incredibly, manages to capture about 90% of the dust. I highly recommend this tool for big projects.
