The Porter Cable Plate Joiner is very simple to use and the cuts are reliably repeatable. One point worth mentioning is the joiner requires a separate (not included) blade to handle FF biscuits. The blade accessory price is unexpectedly high at over $60. Setting blade height is straight forward, but requires test cuts before using on the work piece.
Don’t know how I got by without it. Awesome tool.
I judge this one as top of the line.
I’m a long time lover of Porter Cable, but… As mentioned before, the dust bag clip is way too big and does not hold the collection bag on. Very disappointing, given the amount of sawdust this tool produces. What a mess.
The Porter Cable biscuit joiner is a good tool, its fence adjustments are well designed and easy to use.
As other reviews have pointed, very well made and stable machine. Handle on the fence is very helpful. Only complaint I have is about the pinch clamp holding the dust bag on the dust port. It is of very poor quality and gets loose quickly or comes off while operation.
It did a great job, was glad I bought it. Would highly recommend it.
This is the first biscuit joiner I have owned so nothing to compare it to, however I have been a woodworker for over 40 years and have a good sense about a tools designated use and end results. Based on that criteria this product rates in the excellent category in my opinion. I saw a number of options some costing considerably more and some less but for my money based on the results I have had don’t take a chance on spending too much or spending a few dollars more buy the Porter-Cable. It’s ease of use and the quality construction make it an ideal choice, and oh did I mention the results exceeded my expectations. If you are laying up panels as I have done then don’t hesitate purchase this product and I will tell you, you won’t be disappointed.
I have owned and used many Porter Cable tools for the past 20 some years and still have those tools in my shop. I have never had an issue with them even though in some instances they have been neglected. I just received a new plate joiner and at first look I was impressed with the detail and solid adjustment points. I picked up the chip/dust bag and went to install it and found that there was no way it was going to stay attached to the chip chute. The spring clamp that is to hold it on the chute is probably an inch over size, does anyone check this stuff or do you just alow it to damage the reputation of the name and company…….maybe add a go and no go fixture. I’m sure it will be taken care of by customer service but it shouldn’t have to be.
Great biscuit cutter…very easy to use…no issues out of the box…very happy I got it! Would definitely recommend!
excellent tool for the shop, its been a great tool without any issues. I used it for building cabinet doors and table tops
I like the quality of Porter Cable tools.
It did everything that I wanted it to with precision.
Very sturdy and consistent vs some of the other options. It took me a few tries on a practice piece to learn how the adjustments are calibrated.
Well made, great adjustability, works good on angled edges. Only gets tricky to feel that the tool is flush with the work piece when cutting into a side with the fence on a 3/4″ edge. It would be nice if the tool had an adapter to extend the cutting face downward for increased reference contact.
Very well made. Works as expected, clean cuts. Dust collection needs work, bag fits very loose. But tool works very well.
Only real issue with this has been the dust collection bag which is a loose fit Porter-Cable sent me a replacement (great customer service) but the one they sent is exactly the same! At one time Porter-Cable products were made in USA although mine is made in Mexico but sooner this than China which seems to have been the trend since the 1990’s.
The tool was great and all that I expected except the condition it arrived in. The fence was scratched and the abrasive end where the blade comes out was delaminating. I bought new online and it appeared used. Not happy but no time to return it as I was on a job where it needed to be used.
The instructions explained how to use the tool .The free shipping and delivery right to my door was great. The store in my location did not have the joiner on display.
