My wife got me the planer for a Christmas present. I appreciate the lifetime warranty. So far, I’ve only ran a few boards through it. No snipe detected.
Ridgid is a great brand and I really enjoy my new planer. I have used it only twice and one of the blades already has a NIC in it that shows on the board. I wasn’t planing anything particularly hard, no nails or stones, not even what I would call hard knots in the wood. PaciThis leads me to believe that the blades may be a little better built. Other than that, great tool.
My husband was super excited! He says “So far, so good!”
The product worked better than expected. Would definitely purchase again!
Used it on white oak and it did a superb job.
Get product, used for about 4 projects now. No snipe so far, I did accidently run a board with a brad nail buried in it on the second project, had to spin the blades around. Very easy to do once you read the directions. Very impressed with this product at this price point. A few negatives the shelves weren’t level out of the box, probably normal, but they are a pain to try to level. The dust collection systems worked pretty well on smaller items 4 to 6 inches but when you get to the 12.5 to 13 inch it does seem to get clogged up, I ran some scrap ply wood through to see how it would do, maybe 3 board feet, and it clogged up by the 2nd foot. But very easy to clean out, once you read the instructions anyway. Over all very good product and I would recommend for beginners and intermediates alike. Plus HD has military discount and Rigid comes with life time warranty so no need to spend the extra $75-$100 more for a warranty like the other manufactures make you do.
The service was prompt, and the product is excellent. I have owned this planer before, and it continues to be my “great value at a reasonable price” tool.
Has worked great so far.
Works beautifully. Never used one before. Great results
Super easy to use, it came out of the box almost ready to start planning, the only down side it’s so freaking loud.
Performing as hoped for. The 3 blades do a far better job than my previous 2 blade planer. The dust collection feature is great…just hook up the shop vac & clean is quick & easy.
Works great for my needs
Excellent to work with set up was easy,
Works great and easy to use.
It’s ok, not 5 star, but gets the job done. Must watch it carefully or it will leave marks in the ends of the wood.
Did a very good job as expected. Would recommend this planner !!
The limited number of passes that I’ve so far done with this planer indicate to me that it’s a solid piece of machinery. No set-up required out of the box and blade to table alignment was spot on with next to no sniping of the finished work. I had my doubts about portable planers given past experience with only larger stationary models, though this tool put my concerns to rest. Four stars because the online retail site indicated one unit in stock at another store that was outside of my city. Upon arrival it became obvious to me, given the bashed up box and missing manual, that they were selling a floor model. It wasn’t until I got it home that I noticed that the lockout key was missing as well. Some calling around and another out of town trip to a Ridgid service shop and I was able to get the required key… not cool. If I’m paying for new then that’s what I expect – complete contents as well.
i purchased this unit to avoid a frequent need to haul and pay a local lumber company to plane boards for me. while unboxing the unit a plastic trim piece on the top of the unit cracked off and couldn’t be reattached. i continued and set the unit up to work. i planed roughly 1/16th inch off of three 8 inch yellow pine boards and the motor stopped in the middle of the third. dead. no overload, no nothing. i waited for roughly a half hour thinking it was overheated or something. it was not, it was dead. less than thirty minutes of use on a new planer is pretty poor. otherwise the unit seems well made – perhaps a more robust or stronger motor would make it better.
Yes although having a hard time registering it
Works well. Great value. Fast shipping!
