Skil 7-1/4 in. Corded Circular Saw with Laser

I bought this about a month ago to build out some garden beds. I’ve never used this type of power tool, but it was easy to use and feels really powerful. I went with the skil saw because of the affordability, great reviews and the fact that it was corded. A lot of other companies are using batteries and I’m pretty old school. How far away from a plug am I going to be using this from a wall? Not very far. I can’t wait to try my hand at building other things. Excellent buy!

Bought for doing odd jobs at home. Good weight, cuts quick and clean. Laser guide is a really nice addition. Loving this saw so far!

So far I haven’t had any issues with this saw at all. It has pleased me continuously with every use. I would recommend purchasing.

Great saw and a wonderful gift received for Xmas 2019. I received this for Christmas and used it right away sawing up pallets for starter wood for my stove cuts like butter. The laser feature is nice as well.

The location of the trigger and safety, and the shape and angle of the grips make this saw easy and safe (within the parameters of its intended use) to use, but the best feature (for me) is the laser: it helps make cutting a straight line much more efficient than using the eyeball method.

I have not used this saw many times but when I have used it I have been extemely pleased with it’s performance. It has good power and the laser was very visible on the boards I was cutting. I would definitely recommend this saw to a friend.

I put a 60 tooth blade on it and I use it to cut cabinet quality plywood when making cabinets. It cuts fast & smooth, and the laser is a huge advantage. I typically buy high end tools like Porter Cable or Dewalt and was a little apprehensive about buying a Skil Saw. I am very impressed. I will not rule out giving Skil a look for future tool purchases. Does Skil intend to make a more high end line?

everything works great except the laser. wish it had a adjustable nut to dial it in.

I’ve used this saw a lot since I bought it. From heavy slab (3”+) to regular dimensional lumber this saw has good power. I actually did not realize it had a laser feature when I bought it. I’m pleased with that feature just surprised it has one at this price point.

The saw itself seems to work well, but the height adjustment lever has already started to break (cheap pop metal).

The laser guide is very helpful. The hardware quality is optimal and the saw is well made. The accuracy is great for carpentry projects, and sufficient enough for other woodworks that require more precision. Height and bevel adjustments are really easy and accessible. The only thing that I would like to add to this product is a vacuum adapter or a dust bag adapter.

I’m brand new at using a circular saw. I found this model easier to handle than the other brand I purchased. It was especially helpful to have literature that came in the box explaining all the parts and functions of the saw. Knowing that I have a web site to go to is helpful also. Great product at a reasonable cost.

Purchased about a month ago. Great saw for the money. Solid, lightweight and really like the laser line.

Bought for use for home remodeling job. Cuts clean and tru, nice to have a saw with a bottom plate that allows 90 deg perpendicular cuts. I typically use a saw guide w/ clamps, there was good clearance between the saw housing the guide. Product came with all purpose blade, however as with all power saws, I picked up extra blade for finer cuts. For the price and for the projects I have and will use it on I’m very satisfied.

So far I am very satisfied with the saw. It is powerful enough to handle any job but light enough to be easily maneuvered. I haven’t used the laser much but it’s nice to know it’s there if I need it. I like the trigger safety switch. If the saw included a blade break, I would have given 5 stars. Included blade cuts well.

Nice saw. I’m not a professional carpenter (I’m retired), but most of the guys in my family (and ancestors) are, and since I don’t have the room, or desire, to buy a table saw, I use circular saws a lot on my sometimes very extensive remodeling projects around our 160-year old home. This new one is somewhat less clunky, and a lower profile, than my 7-year old Skil whose motor I burned up ripping way too many 2x4s into 2x2s. My old saw’s motor was making grinding noises already, so the smoke and flames spewing out of the motor was not really a surprise. The laser sighting on this new saw is great, and it extends well down the line I’m following. I did replace the blade that comes with the new saw with a carbide 40-tooth blade, and it cuts pretty clean. The saw is great for non-professional use. I’ve read a review, or two, about the cut depth-lock lever breaking off, so I set that plastic lock lever very carefully. The only issue I have with it, and all brand new tools, is the curl in the power cords never seems to go away, and are always getting snagged on the saw horses. It’s a minor thing, but can be a point of irritation when ripping precut studs.
